My Support Meeting

Bringing together the people who matter most to you

A My Support Meeting is your space to bring together the people in your life who support you — family, friends, carers, trusted adults, and professionals. It’s all about helping you feel confident, connected, and supported as you take steps into adulthood.

Whether you have a big network or just one or two people you trust, this meeting helps everyone understand how best to support you, both now and in the future.

What is a My Support Meeting?

A My Support Meeting is a voluntary, young person led conversation designed to:

  • bring together your family, friends or support network
  • talk about what’s important to you as you move into adulthood
  • share ideas about how the people around you can support you
  • strengthen positive relationships and keep you connected to those who care

These meetings are offered to all care leavers, and they are especially encouraged when it may help you reconnect safely with people who are important in your life.

Who can come to the meeting?

You choose who attends. This could include:

  • family members
  • former foster carers or residential workers
  • friends or partners
  • community members or cultural connections
  • a mentor
  • your LCSO or other workers who support you

Your voice is central — you decide who feels safe, helpful and right to have in the room.

Why it might be helpful?

Care leavers often tell us that relationships and community really matter. A My Support Meeting can help you:

  • feel more connected and less isolated
  • build or rebuild important relationships
  • identify people who can help you emotionally or practically
  • plan ahead for moments when you need extra support
  • strengthen your own support network outside of services

The aim is to create a lasting safety net of people who care about your wellbeing.

What will we talk about?

Every meeting is personal to you, but topics often include:

  • your goals for the future
  • what’s going well
  • what you might be worried about
  • how others can support you
  • ideas for helping you build independence
  • ways to stay connected with people who matter

What happens after the meeting?

You’ll receive a simple summary of:

  • what was talked about
  • what everyone agreed to
  • any next steps or offers of support
  • it’s your plan — and you choose how it’s used and who it’s shared with.

How do I arrange one?

Just speak to your LCSO and tell them you’d like a My Support Meeting.

They will help you:
