Jobs

Getting a job is a big part of being an adult. We know this can sometimes be tough. We want to make sure that all our care leavers are supported to find work and can make progress in their chosen career.

Your LCSO can support you to:

  • think about what job might be right for you
  • find job opportunities to apply for
  • create a CV
  • get smart clothes for an interview

Work and Thrive

We work closely with ‘Work and Thrive’, Newcastle City Council’s one-stop-shop for all employment needs. They can help you find opportunities, apply for jobs, build a CV, develop your interview skills, and pay for some smart clothes and get to an interview.

We have a specific single point of contact within Work and Thrive for care leavers that ensures our support from them is tailored to your needs.

There are also opportunities for traineeships and employment, both within the council and with our partner organisations. The council and many of its partners will guarantee to give you an interview if you are care experienced.

Your LCSO or the duty worker can refer you to Work and Thrive directly, or you can contact them yourself on 0191 277 4125 or workandthrive@newcastle.gov.uk. They also run drop ins Monday-Friday, 10-5, on level two of Newcastle City Library.

The duty worker can be contacted on at dutycicclt@newcastle.gov.uk.
