Free Stuff

Remember you need to be a care leaver between the age of 18 and 25. You might not be entitled to all of it depending on your age and what type of care leaver you are, so make sure you check with your LCSO or the duty worker.

There will be more information about each bit in the relevant section of the website.

Here’s a list of some of the things we’ll pay for and free stuff you get:

  • A provisional driving license.
  • A passport.
  • A £2000-£3000 setting up home allowance.
  • 18-21 Newcastle gym membership.
  • A POP card for free public transport within Tyne and Wear.
  • A council tax discount of up to 100%.
  • Travel documents.
  • Support with accommodation at university and a £2000 bursary paid over 3 years to help with the costs of books and equipment.
  • Money towards your accommodation when studying a Master’s Degree.
  • A £3000 apprenticeship bursary.

Remember, check each section to see whether you are entitled. However, there’s things like the POP card, gym membership, council tax discount, and ID that we give to all care leavers
